Setting up appointment types

How to create and manage service groups

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Appointment types define what services your practice offers for booking. Each appointment type controls who can deliver it, when it's available, where it takes place, how it's delivered, and the billing logic attached to it.

What an appointment type includes

  • Who — Which practitioners are assigned to deliver this service

  • When — Duration of the session (e.g., 50 minutes, 90 minutes)

  • Where — Location (clinic, outreach site, or telehealth)

  • How — Delivery mode (in-person, telehealth, or both)

  • Billing — Fee structure, Medicare item numbers, funder rules

Setting up an appointment type

  1. Go to Control Panel > Appointment Types (Superuser only)

  2. Click Create new appointment type

  3. Enter a name (e.g., "Initial Assessment", "Follow-up Session")

  4. Configure duration, delivery mode, and location

  5. Set the fee and any billing rules

  6. Assign practitioners who offer this service

  7. Save

Once saved, the appointment type appears in the digital front door for clients to book — provided the assigned practitioners have a matching working schedule.
