What is an invoice

Understanding invoices in Tacklit

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Invoices in Tacklit are the primary way to bill clients and funders for services delivered. They can be created automatically or manually, and support a range of billing scenarios.

Invoice Statuses

  • Draft — The invoice has been created but not yet sent to the client or funder.

  • Sent — The invoice has been issued and is awaiting payment.

  • Paid — Payment has been received and recorded against the invoice.

  • Overdue — The invoice has passed its due date without payment.

  • Void — The invoice has been cancelled and is no longer active.

Invoice Timing

Invoices can be issued in advance of service delivery (for example, at the time of booking) or after the service has been provided. This flexibility supports both prepayment and post-service billing models.

Auto-Invoicing

Tacklit can automatically generate invoices based on your appointment type settings. When auto-invoicing is enabled, an invoice is created when a session is booked or completed, reducing manual administration.

Funder Types

Invoices can be directed to different funder types depending on who is responsible for payment — the client themselves, a third-party insurer, an organisation, or another funding body. This supports practices that bill multiple parties for the same client.

Medicare Annotations

For Australian practices, invoices include annotations that make clear which line items are claimable under Medicare and which are not. This helps with accurate claims processing and client transparency.
