What changed
A 3-dot action menu has been added to each appointment type in your template list. The menu provides four actions:
Edit opens the existing edit view for the appointment type.
Duplicate creates a copy of the appointment type with all configuration pre-filled. The copy is named "[Original Name] (Copy)" and opens in the edit view so you can rename it and adjust settings before saving.
Change to Draft / Change to Active lets you toggle an appointment type's availability. Changing a type to Draft removes it from booking flows and selection dropdowns — it stays in your list but can't be used for new appointments. Changing it back to Active makes it available again. This is useful when you want to temporarily stop using a type without deleting it.
Delete removes the appointment type from your list permanently. This is a soft-delete: the type disappears from the list and can no longer be selected when booking new appointments. However, any existing appointments — including future bookings — that use this type are completely unaffected. The type name, configuration, and billing details remain intact on those appointments. A confirmation dialog asks you to confirm before the type is deleted.
Why
Practices accumulate appointment types over time — from trial periods, departed practitioners, discontinued services, or regional variations. Without a way to remove or deactivate old types, the list grows long and cluttered, making it harder to find the right type when booking and increasing the risk of selecting the wrong one.
What you need to do
No action needed. If you have permission to create and edit appointment types, you'll see the new 3-dot menu on each type in your list. If you have read-only access, nothing changes for you.
FAQ
Will deleting an appointment type cancel any existing bookings?
No. Deleting an appointment type only prevents it from being used for new bookings. All existing appointments — past and future — remain exactly as they are. The type name continues to appear on those appointments, invoices, and reports.
Can I undo a deletion?
No. Once an appointment type is deleted, it cannot be restored from the interface. If you need the type again, you can recreate it manually. If you're unsure, consider changing the type to Draft instead — this hides it from booking flows but keeps it in your list so you can reactivate it later.
What's the difference between Draft and Delete?
Draft is reversible — a draft type stays in your list but isn't available for booking. You can change it back to Active at any time. Delete is permanent — the type is removed from your list entirely and can't be restored.
Who can use these actions?
Anyone who currently has permission to create and edit appointment types (typically Superusers and Admins with that permission enabled) can also delete, duplicate, and toggle draft/active status. If you can't see the 3-dot menu, your role doesn't have appointment type management permissions.
